What the data shows

Search interest in IKEA has held broadly steady over the period: the yearly high was 100 in 2022 and 83 in 2025, against an all-time high of 100 in January 2022.

  • Peak interest: January 2022 (index 100)
  • Recent level (last 12 weeks): index 67 of 100
  • Change, first vs. latest 12 months: -7%
  • Period covered: October 2021 – September 2026

Values are Google's relative search index, where 100 is the highest point in the period — not absolute search volume.

About IKEA

IKEA is the world's largest furniture retailer and the best-known name in this home-improvement set by a wide margin. It is included here as a reference point: a brand so universally known that its search curve describes the market rather than the brand.

That curve tells a different story from the rest of the category. The highest week of the whole period falls in January 2022, at the tail of the pandemic boom in home spending, and the yearly average then eases from about 71 in 2022 to 66 in 2023 and has held at around 67 ever since. Interest peaks every January and dips in early summer.

Two contrasts are worth drawing from the rest of the dataset. First, IKEA did not take part in the April 2026 high that several other home-improvement names share, which suggests that high is about renovation projects — sinks, membranes, fixtures — rather than about furnishing in general. Second, KIVIK, one of IKEA's own sofa lines, is tracked separately here and has grown by about a third over five years while the parent brand has stood still: individual products can rise inside a brand whose overall attention is flat.

The caution is that a flat search curve for a brand this large says little about sales. Almost everyone who shops at IKEA already knows it, so searches mostly measure intent to visit or browse, and those are shaped by store openings, catalogue changes and seasonal sales more than by any change in the brand's appeal.
