About Padel
Padel is a racquet sport played on an enclosed court roughly a third the size of a tennis court, with walls in play. Its economics are the reason for its spread: courts are cheap and quick to build, generate more revenue per square metre than tennis, and a beginner can sustain a rally within minutes, which converts trial into repeat visits.
The search data shows steady growth throughout the period, with the yearly average rising every year and no reversal. Industry figures put the global court count above 77,000 and the playing population around 35 million, on a market valued in the region of $350 million in 2024 and growing at roughly 12% a year. Spain and Latin America remain the historic base, with the faster expansion now in Central and Eastern Europe, the Nordics and parts of Asia.
The more interesting reading is only available by looking across this dataset rather than at this page alone. Padel is not tracked here as a single trend: it appears alongside padel equipment brands, academies and coaching businesses, and every one of them is rising. The sport itself has grown around 141% over five years, while several of the businesses built on top of it have grown by four figures or more from far smaller bases.
That divergence is the signal worth taking away, and it is the ordinary shape of a maturing category. Growth in the category term reflects broad awareness and slows as awareness saturates; growth in the businesses around it reflects new entrants competing for a market that already exists. For anyone selling into the sport, the rate of court construction in a given market is the more useful leading indicator, because it runs ahead of demand in the adjacent categories — equipment, apparel, eyewear, recovery products and event sponsorship.
