About RunPod
RunPod is a GPU cloud aimed at developers: it rents graphics processors on demand to people training and running AI models who do not want to negotiate capacity with one of the large cloud providers.
The search data shows almost nothing until 2023 and very little through 2024, with a yearly average of about 6. Then the curve changes character. The 2025 average is around 28, the highest week of the series comes in August 2025, and 2026 to date averages around 60 — roughly ten times the level of two years earlier.
The company's funding history matches that shape. RunPod raised a $20 million seed round in May 2024, co-led by Intel Capital and Dell Technologies Capital, and has since been reported to have raised a $100 million round at a valuation of around $1 billion. The demand behind both is the spread of open-weight models: once a capable model can be downloaded, the scarce input becomes the hardware to run it, and a developer-first rental service is the shortest route to that hardware.
The caveat is that GPU clouds are a crowded and price-sensitive category, and a search for a provider's name is often a search for its pricing page. Rising interest says the name has entered the shortlist; it does not say how long a customer stays once a cheaper or larger competitor offers the same chip.
