About TanStack

TanStack is the umbrella name for a family of open-source JavaScript and TypeScript libraries created by Tanner Linsley — among them TanStack Query (formerly React Query), TanStack Table, TanStack Router, TanStack Form and the full-stack framework TanStack Start.

The search data starts from nothing in 2022 and rises steadily: a yearly average of about 5 in 2023, 15 in 2024, 31 in 2025 and the mid-forties so far in 2026, with the peak in May 2026. The trend is unusually clean for a developer tool, with every full year higher than the last.

Part of that rise is a naming effect. When React Query was folded into the TanStack name, developers who had searched for the library by its old name began searching for the new one, so some of the early growth is a migration of existing attention rather than new demand. The later growth is harder to explain that way. TanStack Start puts the project into direct competition with established full-stack frameworks, and a name that was once a set of utilities is now being evaluated as a foundation for whole applications.

Two cautions apply. Developer tools generate searches from people looking up documentation as well as from people choosing a stack, so the curve mixes usage with consideration. And because TanStack is free software, search interest has no direct line to revenue; it measures mindshare, which in open source is the currency that matters, but it is not the same thing as a business.
