What the data shows

Search interest in Thiamidol has risen over the period: the yearly high moved from 18 in 2022 to 63 in 2025, against an all-time high of 100 in March 2026.

The pattern is clearly seasonal. Averaged across the full period, interest is highest in August (43 of 100) and lowest in December (21) — a swing of roughly 2.0x, and the peak lands in the same part of the year in 3 of the 4 years measured. Any single reading therefore says as much about the month it was taken in as about the underlying direction.

  • Peak interest: March 2026 (index 100)
  • Recent level (last 12 weeks): index 74 of 100
  • Change, first vs. latest 12 months: +607%
  • Period covered: October 2021 – September 2026

Values are Google's relative search index, where 100 is the highest point in the period — not absolute search volume.

About Thiamidol

Thiamidol is a skincare ingredient for hyperpigmentation patented by Beiersdorf, the company behind Eucerin and Nivea. It appears on ingredient lists as isobutylamido thiazolyl resorcinol and works by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme that drives melanin production; Beiersdorf says it was selected after screening more than 50,000 compounds over a ten-year research programme.

Search interest has risen in every full year: a yearly average of about 11 in 2022, 16 in 2023, 24 in 2024 and 46 in 2025, and in the mid-seventies so far in 2026. The highest week falls in March 2026, and the latest quarter has held close to that level.

Thiamidol is not Korean, but its rise is tied to how K-beauty has changed the way people shop. Buyers increasingly search for active ingredients rather than brands — the path niacinamide and centella took before it — and pigmentation is one of the concerns that ingredient-literate shoppers care about most. A patented molecule that is only available in one company's products is an unusually strong position in that kind of market.

The caveat is that most of the efficacy evidence comes from the manufacturer's own studies, and claims such as a percentage reduction in dark spots are measured under trial conditions. The search trend measures interest in the molecule; it is not an independent verdict on how well it works.

Stock market exposure

Thiamidol belongs to Beiersdorf (ETR: BEI). It is a small part of a much larger company, so its search trend says little about the stock on its own. A patented ingredient used in Eucerin and Nivea products. All listed companies →
