About WorkOS
WorkOS sells the features a software company needs before large customers will buy from it: single sign-on, directory sync, role-based access, audit logs and an admin portal, packaged as APIs. Its AuthKit product adds a hosted login on top, and the company has positioned the same stack as authentication for MCP servers — the interface through which AI agents connect to software tools.
The search data stays low through 2024, with a yearly average of about 6, then rises sharply: around 27 in 2025 and nearly 50 so far in 2026, with the highest week in June 2026. Every full year in the series is higher than the one before it.
Two forces plausibly drive the change. The first is that AI startups are selling to enterprises far earlier in their lives than SaaS companies used to, which pulls enterprise login and compliance features forward from a later-stage problem into a launch requirement. The second is agents: once software is expected to be operated by AI agents on a user's behalf, the question of how those agents authenticate becomes an infrastructure problem in its own right, and WorkOS has put itself in the path of that question.
The caveat is the shape of the latest months. Interest over the last quarter is well below the June high, a pullback that is common across the SaaS names collected here in 2026. The trend is better judged on its yearly averages, which have not yet stopped rising.
